Overweight children are at risk of developing a potentially life-threatening disease because too much fatty food is damaging their livers, experts said yesterday.
They said obese children as young as 12 in the US were showing signs of NAFLD - fatty liver disease. Although only ten per cent of cases pose serious problems, it can cause long-term liver damage.
Dr Ian Campbell, who chairs Britain's National Obesity Forum, said: 'This is another terrible example of what obesity is doing to children.'
